3DFS was selected as one of 6 North Carolina startups leveraging elements of artificial intelligence to compete in the Startup Showcase for the State of Technology Conference and was fortunate enough to win.

What Software-Defined Electricity does
The About 3DFS page names the method Software-Defined Electricity. Software measures the current as it moves, not as an average after the fact. Harmonics, power factor, phase imbalance and impedance mismatch are corrected together, because they are one distorted current.
Between the measurements
In April 2026, the North American SynchroPhasor Initiative released a report on measuring the oscillations of data centers. It found that the filtering inside phasor measurement units can miss or misrepresent the high-frequency oscillations that AI workloads create.
The report concludes that combined phasor and point-on-wave monitoring is the most reliable pathway for assessing oscillations from large loads. The Department of Energy’s Office of Electricity summarized it on May 28, 2026.
Where this stands today
The About 3DFS page keeps the company record year by year, from its formation to the two controllers in production. The Press and Case Studies page lists the awards we received and the publications that reported on our work.
The VectorQ2 page describes how the controller works today. It measures the three phases at once. It builds a model of what it measures.
