# 3DFS Technology, Client Highlighted in Raleigh News & Observer

> The Raleigh News & Observer covered 3DFS in January 2018, with an interview with Freudenberg IT on the VectorQ2 in its data centers.

3DFS was [highlighted](http://www.newsobserver.com/news/business/article193634829.html) in the Raleigh News & Observer on Sunday, January 7, 2018 in an article entitled, “Pittsboro company’s technology could save energy costs as well as military lives.”

The article highlights the staggering losses that are present in our grid from uncontrolled electricity, previous and future work done with the military, and features an interview with one of our clients, Michael Heuberger, CEO of Freudenberg IT discussing his experience with the VectorQ2 at his data centers.

We would like to send a special thank you to Michael Heuberger and Freudenberg IT for working with us for a few years to make this happen and also to Max Diamond for taking the time to thoroughly research what we are doing and clearly communicating the concept. That is not an easy task.

## The data center record

The [Press and Case Studies](https://3dfs.com/press-proof) page summarizes a field assessment at a data center from 2016. A VectorQ2a, connected in parallel, corrected one entire server rack in each of two assessments. Each installation took about 20 minutes without disrupting power to the racks.

The report gives average current distortion of 6.4 percent falling to 1.9 percent on the first rack. On the second rack, it gives 13.2 percent falling to 3.6 percent. It states that the assessments were short. In its load-current figures, distortion changed little on the first rack, from 6.39 to 6.10 percent. On the second rack it rose, from 13.19 to 15.95 percent.

The [About 3DFS](https://3dfs.com/about) page states how we claim. We name the party and the date behind any measured result. We say so when we cannot.

## Where this stands today

The [Press and Case Studies](https://3dfs.com/press-proof) page lists The News and Observer among the publications that reported on our work. The [Data Centers & Compute](https://3dfs.com/solutions/data-centers-compute) page cites the same customer, from his 2018 account to Vox. It calls that description a customer’s account, not a measurement. Beside it, the page sets a 2016 instrumented assessment of two racks, which found no drop in active power at the connection. The [VectorQ2](https://3dfs.com/products/vectorq2) page sets out how a pilot runs today, from a written baseline to an instrumented result.
