The 3DFS™ power technology is designed to deliver power that is up to 100 X cleaner than that provided by the public grid. The technology is based upon real-time control of DC power and individual AC sine waves.
The 3DFS™ power technology uses a real-time, on-time operating system in semiconductor based power controllers to recreate an idealized waveform by digitizing input and output power in excess of 100 million times per second.
The Power Factor Correction \ Power Conditioning Controllers are designed for medium and high power applications. Power Factors are corrected to within the 1.0 power factor +\- 0.01, and the total harmonic distortion is reduced to under 0.1% by our devices. Individual units will be implemented on a global basis at the circuit breaker panel for residences and at site specific locations for larger commercial and industrial users, e.g. dedicated to individual motors. Unlike existing passive and and active PFC devices, the 3DFS™ Power Controllers correct all dynamic load changes in Power Factors.
The Microgrid and Smart Grid Controllers are adaptations of the 3DFS™ PFC \ Power Conditioning devices that introduce grid management capabilities through adding power storage via hardware changes and smart grid functions via software changes. Thus, multiple power sources and types can be dynamically balanced to form a microgrid. AC power supplied will be as much as 200X cleaner than that of the public utility grid. Moreover, solar PV, wind energy sources and power storage devices can be easily incorporated into the grid via the grid controllers.
The 3DFS™ power technology will implement not only the classical motor control techniques such as soft start and stop, but will also use its real-time adaptive approach to implement:
- Arc control,
- Optimization of power delivered to the motor on an individual waveform basis,
- Real-time torque control,
- True electronic variable speed control, and
- Optimization of individual motor operation.
The 3DFS™ power technology will use its real-time approach to manage the charging, reconditioning and discharging of individual batteries as well as managing banks of batteries. The net result will be:
- Increased battery lives – up to 2X longer,
- Increased length of individual duty cycles,
- Faster charging cycles – up to 4X, and
- More efficient round trip charge and discharge cycles.
The 3DFS™ power technology will use its real-time approach to manage up conversion of DC from solar cells within a module and an array as well as inverter functions on an overall inverter and micro inverter basis. In addition, the real-time adaptive functions will provide a more efficient and effective interface to the public grid.
The 3DFS™ inverters will be:
- Longer lived – up to 2 X,
- Highly efficient >98%, and
- Low cost.
In addition the 3DFS™ Power Controllers are extremely efficient, i.e. >98% efficient, and cost effective to implement, typically with 1 to 2 year payback periods even without taking into account extending the service lives of equipment on site.
